Starter Recipes



Starter recipes, which are served before main course, can be a vegetarian or a non vegetarian preparation.

Here are some vegetarian starters prepared with Indian spices in Indian way of cooking.

Broccoli Balls : Deep fried broccoli balls (broccoli pakoda) as a starter

Hara Bhara Kabab : Fried kababs made with potatoes and spinach

Mix Vegetable Patties : Fried vegetable patties made with potatoes

Paneer Pakoda : Hot and spicy fried pakoda made from Indian cottage cheese

Spinach Potato Tikki : Hot and spicy fried tikki made from palak and aloo

Tandoori Paneer : Baked Indian cottage cheese preparation ideal for a camp fire




Some non vegetarian starters:

Bread Egg Roll : Fried bread roll with eggs, carrot and cabbage

Chicken Samosa : Fried chicken samosa with cheese and corn

Chicken Spring Roll : Fried chicken spring roll as a starter or a quick lunch

Mutton Boti : Spicy grilled mutton cubes

Mutton Goli : Fried balls of minced mutton

Mutton Mince and Potato Tikki : Fried tikkies of minced mutton with mashed potatoes

Paneer Schezwan : Fried dish of Indian cottage cheese with eggs, cooked in schezwan sauce



Starters as a dish can also be taken as a mid day break snacks. Some preparations can be served as main dish or second dish with main course. These recipes are spicy and most of them are fried and rich in calories. You can adjust the quantity of some ingredients as per your choice.

Serve those starters with rich in calorific value, when the main course is not very heavy, so that balance in food intake is maintained.
