Prawns (jhinga) are one of the most loved sea food. Prawns are slightly small in size compared to a shrimp. Cooking a dish with prawns is very easy and the tender meat by it self is so tasty, that you will never go wrong.

Prawns are available in fresh or frozen form. Both are equally good and full of protein with low fat content. Frozen prawns must be defrosted thoroughly before cooking. Place the intact package in water for about an hour. Once defrosted, they should be used immediately and never be frosted again.

Prawns can be fried, grilled, boiled, baked and steamed. It takes very little time to cook prawn recipes. Do not over cook a prawn dish otherwise it will loose its taste.

Prawns should be de-veined before cooking, however, you can cook it with the shell. Cut open a prawn without breaking the shell and remove the black tube. In small prawns, this is very tricky so removing a shell is easier way.

Prawns can be dehydrated and used in pickle preparation. They can be used in salad also. This food is very versatile and popular, and it is used across the globe.
