Shalgam ki Subzi





Shalgam ki subzi is prepared with tomatoes. It is a simple dish, easy to cook and digest. This preparation is rich and spicy. Reduce the quantity of ghee and chilies as per your taste.

Ingredients we will need to make this recipe:

Turnip (shalgam) : . . . . . . . . 500 grams

Tomatoes (tamater) : . . . . . . . . . . two

Ginger (adrak) : . . . . . . . . . 2 tea spoon

Onion (pyaj) : . . . . . . . . . . (big) - one

Green chilies (hari mirchi) : . . . . . 3 to 4

Cumin seed (jeera) : . . . . . . 1 tea spoon

Turmeric powder (haldi) : . . 1/2 tea spoon

Pure ghee : . . . . . . . 3 to 4 table spoon

Coriander leaves (hara dhania)

Salt (namak) to taste

Peel off turnip and cut it in four parts. Boil it with turmeric powder and salt.

Heat ghee in a pan and fry finely chopped onion till it is just transparent. Add ginger paste, finely chopped chilies and cumin seed. Fry for a minute and then add chopped tomatoes. Cook till tomatoes are just soft and then add boiled turnip. Mix it thoroughly and cook it for five minutes on a slow flame.

Garnish with coriander leaves.
