Peas Soup



Peas soup prepared with Indian cottage cheese - paneer is a nourishing soup. This preparation is with Indian spices, and it is hot in taste. Should you prefer less spicy version, reduce the quantity of some spices and avoid garam masala powder.

Ingredients we will need to make this soup:

Peas (mattar) : . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2 cup

Indian cottage cheese (paneer) : . . 100 grams

Onion (pyaj) : . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . one

Tomato (tamater) : . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . one

Ginger (adrak) : . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 1/2 inch

Garlic (lasoon) : . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 3 to 4

Green chilies (hari mirchi) : . . . . . . . . . . 2 to 3

Curry leaves (kadi patta) : . . . . . . . . . . 3 to 4

Black pepper powder (kali mirchi) : 1/2 tea spoon

Turmeric powder (haldi) : . . . . . . . . 1 tea spoon

Cumin powder (jeera) : . . . . . . . . 1 tea spoon

Garam masala powder : . . . . . . 1/2 tea spoon

Oil (tel) : . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 1/4 cup

Coriander leaves (hara dhania)

Salt (namak) as per your taste

Method of making Peas soup:

Boil peas and tomato. Remove tomato skin and grind it with peas and some coriander leaves.

Fry Indian cottage cheese (paneer) till golden brown.

Heat little oil in a pan and saute chopped onion, ginger, garlic and green chilies. Grind it to make paste.

Heat remaining oil and fry curry leaves for a minute. Add onion paste and fry for three to four minutes. Add cumin powder, turmeric powder and garam masala powder. Fry for a minute and add peas and tomato paste. Mix it well and add black pepper powder and salt. Add little water and cook for five minutes. Add fried paneer pieces and garnish peas soup with coriander leaves.
